- You will receive credit for attending if you are present for any portion of the class period. Participation points will be awarded based on the actual amount of time you spend in class.
- If you will be arriving late, please send a text message to me (360-399-6115) to ensure that you are not prematurely marked absent.
- If you need to leave class early, please let your instructor know beforehand.
- If you are going to miss a class, please let your instructor know in advance so that alternate arrangements can be made.
- If prior arrangements are made and the required work is submitted, you will receive full credit for a missed class.
- Failure to provide advance notice of an absence will result in the loss of all participation points for the missed class.
In-Class Activities
Attendance during our normally scheduled class periods is strong encouraged. If you miss a class session, you will forfeit the benefit of interacting with the instructor and your fellow students even if you make arrangements with the instructor to make up missed assignments. In planning your schedule, please keep in mind the following issues:
- Most of the work for this course is designed to be completed during the weekly class meeting.
- On occasion, you may be invited to substitute in-class activities for homework assignments. Please note that such invitations apply only to those who are present in class at the time they are made. Everyone else must complete and submit the assignments specified in the class syllabus.
Other Issues
- Please be respectful and whisper quietly when conducting sidebar conversations with other students during class.
- Cell phones should be set to vibrate while class is in session.
